The Azerbaijanian Youth Association of Georgia with the financial
support of the European Youth Foundation is inviting you to participate
in the:
International Seminar: MINORITY AND MAJORITY YOUTH FOR EQUAL RIGHTS AND
EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES
June 21–27, 2006, Gurjaani, Georgia
Call for participants
Caucasus region is one of the places extremely affected by the conflicts
between different ethnic groups. Problem of integration of ethnic
minorities is very tangible in all three South Caucasus countries, what
creates lots of everlasting problems. It is doubtless that purposeful
work of the youth organisations can be a big asset to improving the
present situation, that’s why it is important to gather representatives
of the youth organisations that focus on minority integration issues to
exchange good practice, to define the common problems and to develop the
further cooperation.
Our main aim is to give youth voice to necessity of providing equal
rights and equal opportunities to all citizens regardless the ethnic,
religious or social background.
The Objectives of the event are:
1.To discuss and analyze the information concerning the Human and
Minority Rights in South Caucasus Region and in Europe on the whole;
2.To share experience of working on minority issues - integration
problems, violation of minority rights, youth participation - between
participant organisations;
3.To promote cooperation, dialogue and exchange among the members of the
youth organizations working on minority issues;
4.To discuss the short and long term plans in Peace building and Human
Rights work of participants organisations.
The participants of the seminar will write and sign the communiqué -
“MINORITY AND MAJORITY YOUTH FOR EQUAL RIGHTS AND EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES”,
which will be sent to governmental and non-governmental institutions in
South Caucasus countries.
Main programme elements:
The programme will include the following elements:
•Taking stock of the present situation regarding Minority Rights and
minority integration in participants’ countries;
•Working on different methods of integrating minority population and
motivating them for active participation in the social and political
life of the country;
•Planning the projects and activities on minority rights and integration
in participants’ countries;
•Creating the communiqué: “Minority and Majority Youth for Equal Rights
and Equal Opportunities”.
Working languages: English and Russian
Profile of Participants:
Representatives of the youth organisations working on minority issues,
active youth leaders, voluntary or professional youth workers working in
Youth Organisations (NGYOs).
All candidates should:
-Be able to work in English or Russian;
-Be committed fully to attend the seminar and be supported by their
youth organization.
Financial conditions:
-The organizers will cover the expenses of the local transportation,
accommodation, meals as well as the cultural program for the participants.
-Participants will receive up to 70% of their travel and visa costs
(maximum of 300 EURO). Participants are expected to use the most
economic and ecological means of transport. We strongly encourage you to
use train, bus and/or ferry as the main means of travel. Please remember
that if you want to receive travel reimbursement, you need to bring all
tickets and receipts.
-Participation fee (20 Euro) will be deducted from travel reimbursement.
Application procedure and deadline:
Applications must be sent to ayaggeo@yahoo.com by Monday, *April 24,
2006 *at the latest.
The selected participants will be informed by May 8, 2006.
